i've been learning to say

if there’s anything i’ve learnt

from making a second language my first

it’s that if you say something confidently enough

as many times deemed enough

everyone will believe you

i’ve been learning to say

that i am in fact 𝘯𝘰𝘵 a poet

that i need a screenshot to start

or sometimes someone else’s rhythm

when you have given everything up for me to say that i am

you who speaks of visions

visits of us in the light

in the rain, unasked

even though you are the you that doesn’t know,

when you are asked of visions

and there’s this post i saw that says we should set our calendars to start from september rather than january

as we must stretch only as the days become shorter

so this morning i searched and searched, i swear

it’s in a screenshot somewhere

and if i can just find it

if the year is set back

if i am not asked

i’d be able to tell you

and make you believe

that though i’ve repeated it enough times

even as confident as you

i may not have enough to say
